Northumberland is 1-9 against Rappahannock since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Indians will look to defend their home field against the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northumberland comes in on three and Rappahannock on ten.
On Thursday, Northumberland made easy work of Colonial Beach and carried off a 16-1 win. Considering the Indians have won eight matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Braylin Beauchamp made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

Bates got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three RBI, while King got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Bates a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tawny Bowis, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.
Northumberland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .806. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Rappahannock won against Westmoreland on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Raiders walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Eagles.
Avery Brann was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Brann was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.
In other batting news, Kahler Goodman and Cameron Nash did most of the damage at the plate: Goodman went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Nash went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That triple marked the first that Goodman has hit this season.
Rappahannock's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Northumberland, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Northumberland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .511. However, it's not like Rappahannock struggles in that department as they've averaged .454. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
