The Springwood Wildcats stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 79-24 win over Southern Prep Academy on the road. Given Springwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Southern Prep Academy is ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Springwood was led to victory by Micah Thomas and Daniel Westbrook. Thomas scored 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Westbrook scored 25 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Westbrook continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Panos Pananis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five assists and four steals.
Springwood's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Southern Prep Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springwood will take on Oaks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Southern Prep Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Valiant Cross Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 12th. Valiant Cross Academy and Southern Prep Academy are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
