The Woodcreek Timberwolves won the last time they faced the River Valley Falcons, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Woodcreek put the hurt on River Valley with a sharp 71-50 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-16.
Leading Woodcreek to victory were Joey Nielsen and Max VanLaningham. Nielsen scored 11 points along with five steals, while VanLaningham scored 13 points along with five blocks and two steals. VanLaningham hasn't dropped below five blocks for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Triplet, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
River Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jackson McPeak, who scored 13 points. Tayvione Brown was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
River Valley used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Woodcreek. And. Armaan Kandola made the most of the opportunity, scoring two points along with five rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Woodcreek is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for River Valley, they dropped their record down to 7-20 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
