Baseball Recap: Mansfield Homeschool Has No Trouble Against Grace Prep

Mansfield Homeschool won the last time they faced Grace Prep and things went their way on Thursday too. The Mansfield Homeschool Knights were the clear victor by a 14-5 margin over the Grace Prep Lions. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.

Brody Kahle made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other pitching news, Ryn Johnson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last five matchups.

Back at the plate, JD Channell was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Titus Heefner, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Mansfield Homeschool always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Mansfield Homeschool pushed their record up to 12-5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Grace Prep, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8-1.

Looking ahead, Mansfield Homeschool will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Nolan Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Grace Prep, they will venture away from home to face off against Oakridge at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
