Purvis had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Columbia Wildcats on Saturday. Cannon Turner made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Purvis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia only posted an OBP of .333.
The victory was the seventh in a row for Purvis, bringing their record up to 26-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-12.
