Caden Carney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kullen Fountain, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Alex McGilvra was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Huntington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newton only posted an OBP of .300.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Pollok Central and Diboll, and Diboll kept the tradition alive. Pollok Central lost 11-1 to Diboll on Friday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Lumberjacks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Huntington pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Pollok Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11-1.
