New Milford is a perfect 9-0 against Kolbe-Cathedral since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Green Wave will take on the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. New Milford will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
New Milford gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Notre Dame Prep 14-3. The Green Wave might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.
Nick Allen looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Nolan Bell was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Ramery, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
New Milford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Kolbe-Cathedral's offense. They lost 10-0 to Weston on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost six in a row.
New Milford's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Kolbe-Cathedral, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. New Milford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kolbe-Cathedral struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
New Milford beat Kolbe-Cathedral 7-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Wave since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
