On Thursday, Madison earned an 8-3 win over Morris Knolls.
Andrew Haviland was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jackson Strauss, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, New Providence lost a heartbreaker to Cranford when they met back in April of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. The Pioneers fell 5-1 to the Cougars. The contest marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
New Providence also got a good showing from Andrew Kruep, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Kruep has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, New Providence saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Felt, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
New Providence's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Madison, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
New Providence's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Madison has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. It's a different story for New Providence, though, as they've only averaged .360. Will they be able to contain Madison's hitters?
