The Spring Lake Lakers had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 47-37 win over Zeeland East on Friday.
Despite the loss, Zeeland East saw an underclassman step up: Lizzie Risdon scored 17 points.
Spring Lake's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Zeeland East, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Lake will challenge Reeths-Puffer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Zeeland East, they will head out on the road to face off against Unity Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Unity Christian and Zeeland East are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
