Zach Creeden was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cedarville is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Creeden was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Tavin Baldwin was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Tristan Berkheiser was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mechanicsburg didn't have quite enough to beat West Liberty-Salem on Tuesday and fell 2-1. The contest marked the Indians' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Mechanicsburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Wilson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Cedarville pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Mechanicsburg, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cedarville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mechanicsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cedarville was able to grind out a solid win over Mechanicsburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 10-7. Will Cedarville repeat their success, or does Mechanicsburg has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
