Immaculate Conception and the Pirates are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Immaculate Conception Lions' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Seton Hall Prep Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Immaculate Conception faced the Jaguars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Immaculate Conception enjoyed a cozy 70-53 win over the Jaguars.
Meanwhile, even though East Orange Campus scored an imposing 61 points on Saturday, Seton Hall Prep still came out on top. Seton Hall Prep secured a 67-61 W over the Jaguars. The win was all the more spectacular given Seton Hall Prep's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Jaguars are ranked 21st).
Seton Hall Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gino Romano out in front who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Dylan Guzzardo, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Immaculate Conception has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Seton Hall Prep, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.
Immaculate Conception came up short against the Pirates in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 51-45. Can Immaculate Conception avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
