Fayette Academy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They never let the St. Benedict at Auburndale Eagles get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. Considering the Vikings have won five games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ben Brewer tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jordan Walker was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Mason Bragorgos was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Fayette Academy pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for St. Benedict at Auburndale, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fayette Academy will face off against Brighton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Fayette Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Brighton has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for St. Benedict at Auburndale, they are taking a road trip to face off against Briarcrest Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
