The Helias Crusaders will challenge the Hermann Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Helias is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.
On Thursday, Helias made easy work of California and carried off a 3-0 win.
Helias walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-21, 25-15.
Helias' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophie Verslues led the charge by getting 13 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Verslues has posted over her last ten matches. Sydney Suthoff was another key player, getting 11 digs and seven aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Helias was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Hermann came up short against Sullivan on Thursday and fell 3-1.
Hermann started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-11, 25-21, 25-17.
Hermann's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11-1. As for Helias, their win bumped their record up to 27-1-1.
Everything went Helias' way against Hermann when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Helias made off with a 3-0 victory. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bearcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
