Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Rushville Lions, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They lost to the Tigers on the road by a decisive 56-41 margin on Wednesday. Rushville's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it seven in a row.
Defeat or not, Rushville got some senior leadership from Kylee Herbert and Olivia Smith. Herbert scored 15 points along with two steals, while Smith. scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Herbert has scored all season.
Lawrenceburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aubree Labazzo, who scored 14 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Ferreira, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Rushville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Lawrenceburg, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.
Rushville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lawrenceburg is on the road again on Friday and plays the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Greensburg is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
