Even though the New Richmond Lions scored an imposing 62 points on Tuesday, the Mariemont Warriors still came out on top. Mariemont took their matchup against New Richmond 73-62. Given Mariemont's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while New Richmond is ranked 594th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rylan Utter, who scored 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wolf, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Mariemont and bumps their season record up to 15-4. As for New Richmond, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mariemont will take on Reading at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for New Richmond, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Western Brown at 7:30 p.m. New Richmond has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
