Basketball Recap: DSST: Cedar Skates Past Rocky Mountain Prep SMART with Ease

DSST: Cedar can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They breezed by the Rocky Mountain Prep SMART Ocelotls to the tune of 75-45. The Falcons pushed the score to 54-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Ocelotls had little chance of recovering from.

DSST: Cedar had a senior duo take command as Isaac Jaquette went 6 of 9 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds and Matt Stophel dropped a double-double on 11 points and 20 boards. Stophel is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Semahje Kalanda, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points and seven boards.

Despite the loss, Rocky Mountain Prep SMART still got an impressive performance from Xavier Galvan, who went 9 of 19 en route to 26 points and three steals. That was a full 57.8% of Rocky Mountain Prep SMART's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Saul Molina was another key player, putting up two points and seven rebounds.

DSST: Cedar's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7. As for Rocky Mountain Prep SMART, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

DSST: Cedar will face off against Manual at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Manual's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. As for Rocky Mountain Prep SMART, they will challenge Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
