Windber and Meyersdale are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Ramblers will take on the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Windber's hitters haven't had much luck over their past six matchups, but Thursday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.
Windber fell victim to Chestnut Ridge and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions.
Windber saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Serenko, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, while it was Meyersdale who put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, it was Rockwood who put up more. The Red Raiders fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Raiders have suffered since April 11th.
Ryan Sechler put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cole Yoder made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Meyersdale's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 3-7 when he doesn't).
Meyersdale's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 7-8. As for Windber, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Windber has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Meyersdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Windber might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Meyersdale when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Ramblers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
