Football Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Fillmore

While Fillmore didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They strolled past the Grace Lancers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 54-40. The Flashes' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Fillmore's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Thomas Alamillo, who picked up 96 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 40 yards and one touchdown. Those 96 receiving yards gave Alamillo a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Jasiah Patterson, who rushed for 89 yards and a pair of TDs.

Fillmore didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Saul Fraga and Alamillo. Alamillo got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Grace's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jake Williams, who gained 147 total yards and four touchdowns, and RIley Williams, who threw for 301 yards and four touchdowns.

The victory keeps Fillmore at an undefeated 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 41.3 points this season. As for Grace, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fillmore will face off against Carpinteria at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Grace, they will square off against Brentwood School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
