The Strasburg Indians entered their tilt with the Timnath Cubs with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Strasburg came out on top against the Cubs by a score of 49-39 on Tuesday. Given Strasburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Cubs are ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Strasburg to victory were Landen Martin and Tyce Bollers. Martin scored 13 points along with six assists, while Bollers scored 19 points along with two steals. Bollers has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last nine times he's played. Austin Velasco was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 15 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Timnath saw an underclassman step up: Max Roselle dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Jacobson, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Strasburg pushed their record up to 14-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.6 points per game. As for Timnath, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Strasburg won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Hopefully Liberty Common focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Friday. As for Timnath, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wellington comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
