After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wellsville, the Iola Mustangs were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They really took it to St. Paul for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-31 victory at home. That 37 points margin sets a new team best for Iola this season.
Landon Weide continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mac Leonard, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Iola's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for St. Paul, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.
Iola will be playing at home against Marmaton Valley at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marmaton Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 294th, while Iola is ranked 143rd). St. Paul will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Cherryvale at 8:00 p.m. on January 18th. Cherryvale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
