Maddie Howerter posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Monday. She struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She was up against Astoria/VIT and has quite the history against that squad, as she also had a great game the last time she faced them back in April. Howerter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
