Basketball Recap: Fort Ann Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

If Johnsburg Central wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Fort Ann, they should've done a better job of containing Javier Hernandez. The Fort Ann Cardinals were the clear victor by a 66-44 margin over the Johnsburg Central Jaguars on Tuesday thanks in part to Hernandez, who went 15-for-30 en route to 35 points in addition to five boards and four blocks. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least 16 points.

Another player making a difference was Kadence Cutter, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last seven games he's played.

Johnsburg Central lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Liam McKinney, who posted 13 points. Nick Sauer-Jones was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

Fort Ann has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points over those games. As for Johnsburg Central, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-9.

Fort Ann will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Germantown at 1:00 p.m. on March 1st. Fort Ann is facing Germantown at the right time seeing as Germantown is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Johnsburg Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Chazy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
