Plant City has won six straight games at home, while Durant has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. Plant City will host Durant at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Plant City 3.3, Durant 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Plant City's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Alonso.
The result came thanks to Jacob Carbaugh's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.
At the plate, Plant City saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paul Overstreet, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Overstreet has posted since back in February.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Durant was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Newsome by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since May 2, 2024.
Durant also got a good showing from Dylan Hotz, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hotz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
Plant City's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Durant, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Plant City has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Durant struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Plant City might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Durant in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Plant City have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
