Titusville is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will challenge the Sharon Tigers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Titusville barely beat Eisenhower the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Titusville blew past Eisenhower 14-1 on Friday. Considering the Rockets have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jimmy Becker looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brody Sellen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Blake Ross, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Titusville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eisenhower only posted a batting average of .083.
Meanwhile, Sharon put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Meadville as Sharon made off with an 8-1 win.
Coen Fertig made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other pitching news, Ethan Engelmore looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Marko Zajac was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
The victory keeps Titusville at an undefeated 5-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.8 runs this season. As for Sharon, their victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.
Titusville suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Sharon when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Titusville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
