IMG Academy Navy took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Sunshine State Elite Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Ascenders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Sunshine State Elite Academy on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Ascenders, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Xander Perrin looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grayson Veenendall, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Omari Swinton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

IMG Academy Navy's record now sits at 14-9. As for Sunshine State Elite Academy, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

IMG Academy Navy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sunshine State Elite Academy, they will square off against Inspiration Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
