Berry is 9-1 against Pickens County since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Both teams will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pickens County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Berry, who comes in off a win.
Berry fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They snuck past Oak Grove with a 43-39 win on Tuesday.
Rylee Hill and Maggie Mauldin were among the main playmakers for Berry as the former dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Mauldin has scored at least a third of Berry's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Rice, who scored three points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pickens County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to South Lamar.
Berry's win bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Pickens County, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-9.
Berry strolled past Pickens County in their previous meeting on January 8th by a score of 37-21. Does Berry have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pickens County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
