Baseball Recap: Bogan's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Bogan dropped their record down to 11-7 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 15-7 to the Steinmetz College Prep Silver Streaks. The Bengals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Silver Streaks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.

As for Steinmetz College Prep, they moved to 6-21 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak. They not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 18th (when they won 14-6).

For Steinmetz College Prep's part, Luis Jose Batista Taveras made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Batista Taveras also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Steinmetz College Prep is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-20 otherwise. Batista Taveras was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Steinmetz College Prep got a massive performance out of Karol Nowak, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave Nowak a new career-high. Elias Flores was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Bogan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Steinmetz College Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northtown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pumas have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.64 runs per game on average), something the Silver Streaks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
