Two dominant in Bruno Tellez and Cale Cartwright are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lafayette Christian Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Flint River Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lafayette Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 533 points over their last seven games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Lafayette Christian gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 72-52 margin over Central Christian. Lafayette Christian pushed the score to 70-47 by the end of the third, a deficit Central Christian cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lafayette Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tellez, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 4 assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Tellez has scored at least a third of Lafayette Christian's points. Joshua Zapata was another key contributor, scoring 29 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Flint River Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 61-54 win over St. George's.
Cartwright continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
Lafayette Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Flint River Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Everything came up roses for Lafayette Christian against Flint River Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 65-28 win. With Lafayette Christian ahead 39-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
