Basketball Recap: Atlantic Collegiate Academy Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Atlantic Collegiate Academy waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They breezed by the Manning Monarchs to the tune of 71-41. The Armada have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Jaylen Bellamy, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Brooks, who posted six points along with six boards and six blocks.

Atlantic Collegiate Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manning only racked up three assists.

Several Monarchs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lovell Stevenson, who scored eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Stevenson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Lovon Stevenson was another key player, putting up four points along with seven boards and three steals.

Atlantic Collegiate Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Manning, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atlantic Collegiate Academy will host East Clarendon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Atlantic Collegiate Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matches -- so hopefully East Clarendon likes a good challenge. Manning has already played their next contest (against Marion), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
