Softball Recap: Colfax Has No Trouble Against Asotin

Colfax gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on the Asotin Panthers with a sharp 18-8 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Izzy Huntley was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hailey Vandenbark, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Colfax kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Asotin only managed six hits.

The win made it two in a row for Colfax and bumps their season record up to 10-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Asotin, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Colfax and Asotin could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked 135th) will meet Freeman (ranked 31st) at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Asotin will square off against DeSales at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (211 vs. 27).
