Softball Recap: Wendell Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Wendell had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Melba Mustangs. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Breanna Comstock made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Annabelle McRoberts was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Tyree Sears, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Wendell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Melba only managed six hits.

Wendell pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.8 runs. As for Melba, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Wendell is taking a road trip to face off against Declo at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Melba, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Vision at 5:00 p.m.
