The West Greene Pioneers will face off against the Carmichaels Mighty Mikes at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as West Greene comes in on six and Carmichaels on 13.
On Wednesday, West Greene made easy work of Bethlehem Center and carried off a 13-3 victory. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by nine runs or more this season.
Payton Gilbert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

West Greene hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Carmichaels ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Jefferson-Morgan by a score of 4-1.
Bailey Barnyak spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 16 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ali Jacobs, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Ke'Lani Chun was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Carmichaels' win was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. As for West Greene, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. West Greene has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. However, it's not like Carmichaels struggles in that department as they've averaged .476. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Greene might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Carmichaels when the teams last played back in April. Can the Pioneers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
