The Green Mountain Rams will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Bear Creek Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Green Mountain took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Longmont, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Green Mountain skirted past Longmont 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since May 2, 2024.
Demetreus Padilla made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Simon Lunsford looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low.
Padilla wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was DD Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Lopez a new career-high. Another was Hudson Burke, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Bear Creek came into Thursday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Conifer 10-4 on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bears considering their one-run performance the game before.
Brandon Adams-Anders was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matt Hegerle, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played. Ayden Brown was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
The win got Green Mountain back to even at 2-2-1. As for Bear Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.
