The Morgan Raiders were the 45-37 winner over the Belpre Golden Eagles when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Morgan's rough 62-41 defeat to Belpre on Monday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Morgan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 458th, while Belpre is ranked 169th).
Belpre found their leader in underclassman Julia Way, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Haley Alloway, who scored nine points.
Morgan has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Belpre, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgan's road trip will continue as they head out to face Maysville at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Maysville is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Belpre, they will head out on the road to face off against Southern at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
