After both having extra time off, the Newsome Wolves and the Plant Panthers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newsome will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Newsome's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Sumner 2-0. That's two games straight that the Wolves have won by exactly two runs.
The result came thanks to Allyson Conner's shutout, as she gave up just a hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sarai Nicholas, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Plant hadn't done well against Durant recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Thursday. Plant narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Durant 3-1.
Summer Wood looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February.
On the hitting side, Audrey Perkins was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season.
Newsome's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Plant, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Newsome came out on top in a nail-biter against Plant in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newsome since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
