AAA District 12 recap October 1, 2013
Overton added to the longest winning streak in AAA District 12 this week by beating Ravenwood, 34-33. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
McGavock's dynamic duo of Dustin McAbee and Justin Bowler proved tough for Antioch to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McAbee threw for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns and Bowler had 65 yards receiving.
Antwain Goodner was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Raiders beat the Bears. He.
Hillsboro's Michael Hughes and Jay King led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hughes has thrown for 712 yards this season, while King, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 12 catches for 236 yards. LaDontez Ferrell from Hunters Lane leads the league in rushing with 214 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when McGavock takes on Hillwood. As it stands, Jay Gore's team is in second, while the Hilltoppers are in sixth.
The Raiders made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,459 from 5,283. The improvement was largely due to a 25-14 victory over Antioch last week.
