Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Miller Rebels walked away with it. They took down Grace 65-50 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but Miller sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Leading Miller to victory were Jesus Rasura and Eric Copeland. Rasura rushed for 231 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per carry, while Copeland rushed for 247 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. Isaiah Sepulveda was another key contributor, rushing for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Miller's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jared Brieske and Copeland who racked up six sacks between them.
Despite the loss, Grace still got an impressive performance from Ethan Lasecla, who threw for 367 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown. Noah Cooper did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 177 receiving yards.
Miller's victory was their third straight on the road , which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.3 points per game. As for Grace, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.
Miller will take on San Bernardino at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (San Bernardino is ranked 722nd, while Miller is ranked 721st). Grace does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
