Softball Recap: Mercy Has No Trouble Against Palo Alto

Mercy won the last time they faced Palo Alto and things went their way on Monday too. Mercy put the hurt on Palo Alto with a sharp 13-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Charlotte Kell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Mercy got a big performance out of Aveline Anderson, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Kathleen Graupera was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Mercy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palo Alto struck out 12 times.

Mercy's record is now 3-5. As for Palo Alto, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercy will face off against Notre Dame at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The match will give Mercy their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Palo Alto, they will challenge Fremont at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
