Basketball Recap: Second Baptist Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

Second Baptist had won eight straight games and Reese Alston did his part to make it nine on Friday. The Second Baptist Eagles blew past the Lutheran South Academy Pioneers, posting a 67-22 win thanks in part to Alston, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 19 points. His evening made it 16 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of JJ Konzelman, who posted eight points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Second Baptist is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points per game. As for Lutheran South Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Second Baptist will venture away from home to square off against Fort Bend Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Fort Bend Christian Academy has won four straight at home, while Second Baptist won 11 straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change. As for Lutheran South Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Logos Prep Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
