Lancaster had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They greeted the New Year with with a 60-43 win over the Richland Northeast Cavaliers. Given the Bruins' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Cavaliers are ranked 173rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Lancaster to victory were Jordan Watford and Columbus Parker. Watford went 10 of 17 en route to 23 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Parker went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds. Watford is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacarey Ballard, who posted five points.

Despite the loss, Richland Northeast had strong showings from Emmanuel Ard, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds, and Joshua Nunn, who put up six points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Damarcus Haliburton, who had four points.

Lancaster pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Richland Northeast, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Lancaster didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-53 win against A.C. Flora on the 8th. As for Richland Northeast, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-38 defeat against Dreher on the 8th.
