Kaw Valley recap Nov. 7, 2012
Piper extended the longest winning streak in Kaw Valley this week by beating Baldwin, 27-21. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Pirates.
Tonganoxie moved up to 124 from 156 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Chieftains climbed the ranks as a result of losing to Eudora 31-10.
Lansing's dynamic duo of Krystian Abbott and Lucas Mein proved tough for Aquinas to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Abbott threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns and Mein had 184 yards receiving. Colin McQuillan helped Lansing's passing attack out by catching two balls for 52 yards.
SKYLER WINDMILLER provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Mill Valley fell to Bishop Miege. He completed 29 passes for 276 yards and also ran for 75 yards.
Christian Porter made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Lions lost to the Saints. The 5-foot-11 junior racked up one sack.
STATON REBECK was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 173 yards on 19 carries as the Jaguars fell to Aquinas. Teammate L.J. HATCH added to the ground attack by rushing for 103 yards.
Mill Valley's WINDMILLER and HATCH have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Kaw Valley in both passing and receiving yards. WINDMILLER has thrown for 2231 yards this season, while HATCH, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 37 catches for 813 yards. Tonganoxie's Cole Holloway leads the league in rushing yards with 1271.
Piper and the Bulldogs played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Piper eventually emerging with a 27-21 victory.
