Wewahitchka and Franklin County are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Wewahitchka Gators will welcome the Franklin County Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin County took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Wewahitchka, who comes in off a win.
Wewahitchka is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Sneads get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Gators considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Severa Haney looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in hits (zero).

At the plate, Emma Rustin was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI while going 2-for-2. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Laiken Ferrell, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Wewahitchka hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sneads struck out 13 times.
Meanwhile, Franklin County didn't have quite enough to beat Suwannee on Tuesday and fell 4-3. The Seahawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sarah Ham was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Ham wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lilah Millender, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Franklin County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Wewahitchka, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wewahitchka has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Franklin County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wewahitchka might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Franklin County in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will Wewahitchka have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
