Masuk is a perfect 10-0 against Immaculate since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers will host the Mustangs at 4:15 p.m. Masuk's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Immaculate's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Masuk is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: New Milford, who was ranked second at the time (Masuk was ranked third). The Panthers fell just short of the Green Wave by a score of 2-0 on Monday. The Panthers were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Green Wave's pitchers proved too tough.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Immaculate made sure to put some runs up on the board against Harding on Wednesday. The Mustangs blew past the Presidents 20-4. That looming 20-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.
Maddie Costa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off four runs, three doubles, and one triple while going 5-for-5. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Immaculate got a massive performance out of Norah Whitmore, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Whitmore has posted since back in April. Jessica Sposato was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Immaculate was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .658. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Masuk fell to 11-1. As for Immaculate, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10.
Masuk came out on top in a nail-biter against Immaculate in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
