Somerset Academy Central Miramar found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 11 fewer assists than your opponent.
Jayden Auguste and Joshua Petit certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Auguste scored 16 points along with four steals, while Petit scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Auguste has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Giovanni Gordan, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Franklin Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Robert Guishard, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Guishard also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Jacob Alicot was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Somerset Academy Central Miramar's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-5. As for Franklin Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Somerset Academy Central Miramar will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on International Studies at 4:45 p.m. on January 25th. As for Franklin Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Sheridan Hills Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sheridan Hills Christian will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
