Softball Game Preview: Mechanicsville Mustangs vs. Patrick Henry Patriots

The Mechanicsville Mustangs will take on the Patrick Henry Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Mechanicsville is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Henrico with a sharp 20-1 win on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Mechanicsville got a massive performance out of Baylor Hughes, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Hughes a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Eubanks, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Mechanicsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, while Patrick Henry put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Dinwiddie. The Patriots blew past the Generals 8-0. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Patrick Henry pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Mechanicsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season.
