The Lincoln-Way East Griffins will face off against the Loyola Academy Ramblers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Lincoln-Way East sitting on 13 straight wins and Loyola Academy on 18 (dating back to last season).
With a playoff game on the line, Lincoln-Way East rose to the challenge on Saturday. They blew past the Fillies/Broncos 49-6 at home. Lincoln-Way East might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 12 matches by 20 points or more this season.
Lincoln-Way East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braden Tischer led the charge by rushing for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 139 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Nuri Muhammad, who rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
Meanwhile, Loyola Academy faced York in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Loyola Academy came out on top against York by a score of 23-14 on Saturday.
It was another big night for Ryan Fitzgerald, who rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 182 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.3% of his passes.
Lincoln-Way East has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 13-0 record. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.64 points. As for Loyola Academy, their win bumped their record up to 13-0.
Lincoln-Way East came up short against Loyola Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 13-3. Can Lincoln-Way East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
