Montrose is 6-1 against Eagle Valley since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Montrose Red Hawks will look to defend their home court against the Eagle Valley Devils at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Montrose came up short against Glenwood Springs and fell 57-44. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Montrose came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Glenwood Springs is ranked 123rd).
The losing side was boosted by Kaleb Ferguson, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Jaxon Kattner was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Eagle Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Grand Junction by a score of 65-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Saturday (61), Eagle Valley still had to take the loss.
Montrose's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-2. As for Eagle Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Montrose beat Eagle Valley 50-38 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Does Montrose have another victory up their sleeve, or will Eagle Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
