After flying high against the Central Indians last Monday, the Oak Park Northmen came back down to earth. Oak Park fell to Kearney 50-45. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Oak Park came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Kearney is ranked 205th).
Kearney's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyssa Quick, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Quick has scored all season. Gracie Bomar was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Oak Park has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-8 record this season. As for Kearney, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-16.
Oak Park will be playing in front of their home fans against Truman at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kearney, they will head out on the road to face off against Winnetonka at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
