The Bountiful Redhawks will face off against the Alta Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Bountiful sitting on four straight victories and Alta on three.
Bountiful had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Skyline on Tuesday. The Redhawks blew past the Eagles 20-11. The Redhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by nine runs or more this season.
Dylan Carpenter made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alexa James was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, two RBI, and one double. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Aspyn Danner was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Bountiful was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Alta hadn't done well against Olympus recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Titans.
Danica Doyle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addyson Brownell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Bountiful's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Alta, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.
Alta's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bountiful has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Alta, though, as they've been averaging 11.1 hits. Given Bountiful's sizable advantage in that area, the Hawks will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bountiful got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Alta by a conclusive 24-3 score. Do the Redhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
