It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Metuchen Bulldogs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 62-58 win over South Amboy. The win was a breath of fresh air for Metuchen as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Metuchen was led to victory by Ben Santus and Cameron Hayes-durina. Santus scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Hayes-durina scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hayes-durina has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Galligan, who scored eight points.
Metuchen's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-13. As for South Amboy, their loss dropped their record down to 16-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Metuchen is on the road again on Thursday and plays Roselle Park at 5:30 p.m. on February 15th. As for South Amboy, they will face off against Governor Livingston at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Governor Livingston is coming into the matchup with three straight victories at home, so South Amboy is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
